MetroPCS is pretty stupid. They claim to be able to take any phone and convert it into their system but once my mom brought in our AT&T Motorolas, they said they can only convert phones that don't have SIM cards. Idiots.

So here's the deal with Public Gluttony. Our we've already gone through two drummers and we're most likely replacing this one too. Over the past few rehearsals, Jmic has been our drummer for the PG songs and Thomas has been drumming for most of our covers. This means our current lineup is Jmic on drums, Thomas on guitar, Andrew on guitar and me on bass guitar.

Next session, I'll record some scratch takes.

Not sure if I've iterated this before but this is what I want to start doing next year concerning recording arts:

1) Record depositions
-I'll probably call up Mr. Isler and see if he's got anything for me

2) Master recordings
-I don't necessarily have to be there for the recording part. Someone else records and picks the takes. I just do the finishing touches.

-So pretty much I'll be running an independent studio wherever I can and have clients come record with me :D
-I'd love to find a job at another studio but it's really hard to find a studio that's hiring cause you really only need 2 people running the place.

Sometimes I feel like I'm not learning enough. Through countless (not really) years of public schools, it's been hard-wired into my brain that if I'm not learning what other people want me to learn, I'm wasting my brain. Here's what my brain has been up to:

-Video production
I can't get enough of figuring out things in this area. Effects, transitions, shooting style, technical stuff like encoding and anything else I might have missed.

-Visual pleasance training; not sure if I worded that well but basically how good things look behind a lens or in a frame

-Audio engineering
OMG my love and life right now. EQ, compression, ADATs, mixers, mics, mic placement, all that stuff.

-Ear training, not so much in the sense of music theory anymore, but a different but related sense of space and EQ

-Visualizing music more linearly. I think looking at it left to right more like a DAW sequencer can help me write better melodies.

-Computer system security
I didn't think I'd be too interested at first but I'm taking a class about computer hacking and prevention. It's awesome.

There's a whole bunch of other stuff but I don't want to write so much at 2:40 AM. Getting sleepy. These are the main things anyway.

My driving philosophy is to be ready. For what? I don't know. At some level, it's more of a "for who" rather than "for what," but it's not a huge thing.

In other news, I think I'll grow my hair again for a little bit. Probably until my mom offers to pay for a hair cut hahahah!

It's about time I got sick of my desktop. The very few icons I have on my desktop started to seem cluttered and the Windows taskbar started to look obtrusive. So I got ObjectDock and deleted of all the shortcuts on my desktop. I feel so clean.

I've been recording all morning. It's so tiring and frustrating cause I haven't gotten a single good take yet. The reason why I'm having such trouble is cause I'm not much of a performer; I'm mediocre at best. I'm not gonna tell you guys what I'm recording but it's pretty awesome.

Waking up in the middle of the night

11:15 doesn't count as "the middle of the night" but it felt like it anyway. I had planned to wake up at 4 so I went to bed at 9ish. I even had a dream (it was in HD).

And now I can't fall back asleep. I've been struggling for about an hour or so.

I did the only thing any sensible person would do. I got up, went to the kitchen and ate a piece of cheesecake. Then I went to the bathroom to pee. All without turning on a single light.

I promised myself that I would not write about sad things and I plan on continuing. It's the same advice I give to people; I tell myself that it's the good things that matter and to focus on them rather than the bad things. It's impossible to cut out every bad thing in life.

Anyways, this is where I was going with that. I have good news. Someone trusts me. It feels absolutely amazing that just being me is enough for someone to tell and share with me things that are so intimate and for now, secrets. This is one of the things I truly cherish and anyone who claims to know me well knows this at least: I value friendship more than anything.

So, guys. Be a good person. Be proud of your friends.

Just woke up from a dream

Let me tell you guys a story. Here's how it goes...

There's a girl. She doesn't have a name so let's give her one. Her name is Justine. Justine loves blueberries. Justine goes to Korea for vacation and during her stay in Korea, she meets another girl. She also doesn't have a name but let's call her Jennifer. Jennifer is from New York City but she doesn't tell Justine because she wants their relationship to be perfect. Justine and Jennifer spend a lot of time with each other while in Korea. Unfortunately, when it's time for Justine to go back home, she doesn't get any of Jennifer's contact information.

Back home, Justine starts to realize that she's in love with Jennifer. All she can think about is how beautiful Jennifer is and how she makes her laugh. So she decides to go back to Korea and find her.

She finds Jennifer but when she does, it's time to Jennifer to go back to NYC. Jennifer says it's too late for them. She also loved Justine but doesn't want to keep up a long distance relationship. Justine fights hard to try and keep her but nothing works. Insert awesome car chase scene here.

Back in NYC, Jennifer goes back to her old life of partying and one night stands with both men and women, but there's something missing. All she knew was whenever she smelled blueberries, her heart would come to a temporary stop.

She had figured it out and this made her angry.

Jennifer goes to San Francisco and knocks on Justine's door. She had no idea what she was going to say. All she knew was her anger and that Justine had something to do with it.

Justine opens the door. Within two seconds of seeing Justine, Jennifer forgets everything and gives her a long, passionate kiss. Suddenly, everything made sense.

That's the basic concept of what my dream was about. I guess it's a somewhat cliche storyline you see all the time in romantic comedies. I think I might want to expand this story a little more and tell the story on YouTube. I just need to find two girls willing to kiss each other. Shouldn't be too hard.

Started with some pad thai and spare ribs. Does anyone know how much fat is in spare ribs usually? Fat slows down the digestive system and that's not what I want to do after a work-out. Anyways, I finished up with a baked potato with peanut butter. The texture was a little too thick so I'm still perfecting that recipe.

I forgot to take my antibiotics

And I forgot to bring lunch to school. Man, I hate being rushed in the morning.

My mouth is doing okay now. Yesterday was a pain in the mouth. It wasn't so much my mouth actually than my head and my arms. Why my arms I have no clue but all I knew was I felt really really tired up until about 7 or 8 PM. I was playing Smash with the guys and I think I was right yesterday when I was thinking being distracted from the pain would get rid of it.

Anyways, I'm getting kicked out of the computer lab so peace easy, guys.

edit: I'm home now and I'm feeling like crap. I need to sleep.

Wisdom teeth pain

I'm getting my top wisdom teeth taken out on Monday. I had the bottom two taken out two years ago around the same time. I remember it was around the same time because I was about to have my birthday party either that weekend or the weekend after. I don't really remember how that party came about. I just remember a whole lot of people I didn't recognize.

Anyways. I remember now why I didn't get the top two taken out at the same time! It was because they hadn't grown in completely yet and the bottom ones were sort of an emergency status; they were growing sideways and would have done some damage to whatever was in its way.

Yeah, gross.

We tried recording yesterday. That was a lot of fun but we never got a take we were really satisfied with so we're going to try again this Friday. Hopefully my mouth won't be hurting too much otherwise I'll just be playing guitar. We also decided on some other songs to play. I won't be revealing them just yet but I promise they'll be good. Producing is a very fun process. I actually don't know if I should be calling it producing because it's not an original song.

Oh! I'm also excited because now I have people to write songs with. It's the most frustrating thing ever trying to write a song just cause you end up hating it.
